Fall in Pepin County means the beauty of the everchanging fall leaves, scenic drives through the countryside, time spent in the outdoors, and fun fall events to enjoy with family and friends. The fall season is full of exciting community events and places to get outdoors and take in the fall weather. Laura Ingalls Wilder Days
Before it gets too chilly out and you have to break out the hats, coats, and gloves, Pepin County has some great fall events to help you ring in the fall season. Laura Ingalls Wilder Days, a Pepin County fall favorite, takes place September 10-11th in Pepin, Wisconsin. The festival sometimes referred to as Laura Days, is a family-oriented experience featuring arts and educational entertainment revolving around the early American pioneer experience of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Set in Pepin, the festival resides at the place of Laura’s birth and immerses festival-goers into her life and story. The event is a great place to catch glimpses of the colorful fall leaves along the Mississippi River, all while enjoying food, beverages, entertainment, community, and more.
Fresh Art Tour
Travelers who come during October can explore the scenic backroads of Pepin County and the local art scene on the self-guided Fall Fresh Art Tour. The semi-annual tour takes place every spring and fall and guides visitors to home art studios and galleries all throughout the Pepin, Pierce, and Buffalo County countryside. Each artist who calls this area home will have stories to tell and inspiration to share, as well as pieces of their work. The tour includes 23 different sites and winds through the picturesque fall scenery of Wisconsin, making the drive just as enjoyable as the various sites.
Women’s Weekend
What better way to show the women in your life appreciation this fall than to take them to Women’s Weekend in Stockholm during November? Running November 4th through the 6th, Women’s Weekend is a fun event for women everywhere, both locals and visitors alike. The event features 3 different themed days of events: “Bands & Beverages” in Pepin on Friday, Saturday Shopping & wine tasting event, and Belly Dancing & Brunch at the Opera House in Stockholm on Sunday. There will be live music, special deals at shops along the river, and much more for an all-around enjoyable fall experience.
Pepin Nouveau
Each fall, the local Villa Bellezza Winery in Pepin, Wisconsin hosts a special event to commemorate their first wine of the new season. This celebration is called the Pepin Nouveau, and is held on November 17th in the winery’s beautiful outdoor pavilion. During the event, visitors can enjoy complimentary food and have a first taste of the new wine with other event attendees. You will also have the opportunity to purchase some Nouveau for your upcoming holiday celebrations, or as a holiday gift for the wine lovers on your list.
Durand Dazzle Days
The fall season in Pepin County also features events to prepare you for the holiday season that is right around the corner. Durand Dazzle Days in Durand, Wisconsin can help your family, friends, and you ring in the holiday season with community fun and events. Held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the fun holiday-themed festival features a holiday parade, pictures with Santa, and kids’ activities. There will also be concessions, raffles, a craft show, and vendor booths where you can start stocking up on holiday gifts for everyone on your list.
